2026 PARTICIPATING ARTISTS

The 2026 Biennial Textile Palette Exhibition brings together a diverse and compelling group of artists from across Victoria and interstate, each responding to our 2026 biennial theme: STUFF: Purpose, Profit and Peril

This year’s theme invited textile and fibre artists to examine the material world around them, what we consume, inherit, discard and protect. It asked artists to consider the emotional, cultural and environmental weight carried by objects, and to reflect on the systems of value that shape our relationships with material things.

The selected works reveal a rich range of interpretations. Some responses are personal, drawing on memory, domestic life and lived experience. Others take a broader lens, interrogating consumer culture, environmental consequence, labour, industry and global exchange. Across the exhibition, materials are reimagined, repurposed and reconsidered, transformed through process into works that challenge, question and illuminate.

Together, these artists demonstrate the power of textile practice not only as a material discipline, but as a vehicle for critical and poetic enquiry.
